Wax Museum Wins & Garlic for The Soul

Hey friends,

If your house looks anything like mine right now, it's tissues everywhere, coughs echoing down the hall, and zero energy for anything ambitious. My daughter caught whatever bug is going around (and gave it to my Wife and then generously shared it with me), so we've been in full survival mode. No big adventures, no exciting outings—just a lot of blankets, hydration, and Hulu.

But last week, there was one bright spot: her school's Wax Museum event. If you've never been to one, it's this adorable project where the kids research a historical figure, dress up like them, and stand "frozen" like wax statues. When visitors (parents, other classes) come by and "press the button" (ask a question or touch their hand), they come to life and give a little speech about who they are.

IRIE chose The Brothers Grimm, and she was SO proud. She practiced her lines for days, even when she wasn't feeling great. Watching her stand there in costume, beaming when people asked questions, melted my heart. It was one of those small-but-huge parenting wins—seeing her confident and excited about learning, even in the middle of sick season chaos.

Of course, right after we got home, the couch claimed us again. So while we recovered, I whipped up The Garlic Combo.

Here's the simple recipe I used (adapted from Dr. Barbara O'Neal—easy enough to make even when you're wiped out):

Garlic/Cayenne Pepper/Honey

Dice up a big clove Garlic and add 2 pinches of Cayenne Pepper and then 1 tsp Honey and eat it! ( I just swallow it with a drink of water)

Under the Foot

Crush up the Garlic clove and put under the foot(any foot, one time I did both) hold in place with bandage, gauze, wrap or a sock. Good for congested lung/wheezing.

**Update from the sick couch: My Mom just saved the day with a big pot of her beef barley soup (pure comfort in a bowl) and some saltine crackers!. Feeling a little more human already. Grateful for moms who know exactly what we need when we're down. 💕 Who's got a favorite 'mom rescue' food memory?
